The trail connects the peaks of Pico do Arieiro and Pico Ruivo. The hike is challenging but breathtakingly beautiful, with views of deep valleys and rugged mountain peaks.  <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>2. Levada das 25 Fontes<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Distance:<\/strong> 9 km | <strong>Duration:<\/strong> 3 hours | <strong>Difficulty:<\/strong> moderate<\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This hike follows a levada (irrigation canal) through the Laurisilva forest and ends at the spectacular 25 Fontes waterfalls. It rains more in the north than in the south, and the levadas carried rainwater from the wetter north to the drier south. The cable car will take you to the district of Monte in just over a quarter of an hour. A round-trip ticket costs approximately \u20ac18. Along the way, you\u2019ll enjoy stunning views of Funchal. It\u2019s a cozy place in this \u201cChamber of the Wolves\u201d; you\u2019ll see plenty of street art made from recycled materials on doors and windows. Be sure to visit the town\u2019s churches as well: the Igreja Matriz de S\u00e3o Sebasti\u00e3o and the S\u00e3o Sebasti\u00e3o Church from 1426 in the center, both built in the Baroque style.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">C\u00e2mara de Lobos is certainly also known for its high rocks and cliffs. Just to the west, at an elevation of about 580 meters above sea level, you can look down on the fields <strong>from<\/strong> the <strong>Cabo Gir\u00e3o skywalk<\/strong>.
