Our Cabin, a modern vacation home in your own forest in Twente

Want to get away for a bit and enjoy nature, peace, and privacy close to home? Then this is the place for you. Just a 1.5-hour drive from Amsterdam, you’ll find yourself here in your very own forest (!), on the outskirts of a charming little town, in a beautifully decorated vacation home. It’s the perfect place to recharge for a few days or finally read that book.

Just outside Diepenheim, tucked away among the greenery of Twente, you’ll find Our Cabin. In 2022, Arno and Marlies made their dream a reality here. This modern and cleverly designed 70 m² vacation home has no fewer than 3 bedrooms and can accommodate up to 4 people.

The cabin is situated on a wooded lot of 3,000 m². The house is built on a unique wooded embankment measuring 30 by 100 meters.

The area surrounding the wooded embankment is farmland. Corn grows there, which gives you even more privacy in the summer. It’s a wonderful place to immerse yourself in peace, comfort, nature, and beautiful surroundings.

About Our Cabin

The house has one double bedroom and two single bedrooms (one with a loft bed). It features a beautiful bathroom, air conditioning, a washing machine, and a dryer (with eco-friendly detergent). The house has Wi-Fi but no TV. Surrounding the house is a lovely, shady garden with woods.

Location

Our Cabin is located just outside Diepenheim (the town center is a 10-minute bike ride away). It’s a beautiful little town for nature and art lovers. Click here for all the tips and cycling and hiking options in the area.

Our Cabin, Built Sustainably

The house was built with respect and love for the surrounding environment. Local craftsmen were used as much as possible during construction.

Here, you’re staying in an eco-friendly way. Rainwater, bathwater, and kitchen wastewater are collected in an underground reservoir and used to water the garden. The cabin is also connected to a septic tank instead of the sewer system.

The wastewater is naturally treated and eventually flows into the forest. That is why you are required to use the biodegradable cleaning products provided by Arno and Marlies. Otherwise, the living organisms in the septic tank will die, and any chemical cleaning products will end up in the forest.

Wildlife

In addition to the green woodpecker and the spotted woodpecker (Bob), a buzzard nests here, and you can also see squirrels, pheasants, and hares. Sometimes you can spot a roe deer in the distance in the fields around the house.
