Looking for a wonderful vacation apartment surrounded by nature with plenty of sports opportunities? Paloria in Oberplars near Algund has just what you’re looking for.
The owner, Julia, is very athletic and loves modern interior design. With Paloria, she has been able to combine these two qualities: fresh, modern apartments with hotel service—and, if desired, fitness coaching during your vacation. In your apartment, you’ll find a Blackroll and a fitness mat.
The climate is very pleasant, which means the outdoor season lasts a long time, from early spring to late fall. Paloria is open year-round. Julia herself is especially fond of trail running and skiing. She also enjoys hiking and biking and loves Pilates. That’s why Pilates classes are held regularly at Paloria during the summer.
The area is ideal for many sports activities, but nature also offers plenty of opportunities for relaxation. Leave the world behind and find peace: here, you can enjoy nature, healthy food, warm hospitality, and wellness and yoga sessions.
Paloria is surrounded by many mountains. There are peaks to climb (bouldering), as well as plenty of mountain bike and hiking trails. There are two e-mountain bikes available for rent (for a fee). Paloria is a member of the Bike & Hike Academy and the Ötzi Bike Academy. You’ll receive a 10% discount at Sport Franz in Algund.
You will receive the Algund Guest Card, which allows you to use all public transportation in South Tyrol, ride several cable cars, and gain access to 80 state museums.
After a day spent in nature, a lovely swimming pool and sun terrace await you, complete with an inviting whirlpool for some well-deserved relaxation. There’s also a self-service pool bar, a relaxation area, a terrace, and both a Finnish and a bio sauna. The spa is open daily, and a saltwater pool is at your disposal. At the self-service pool bar (open from May through September), you can enjoy coffee, homemade cakes, ice cream, and soft drinks. A bathrobe and towel are provided free of charge for use in the wellness area and the pool.
Paloria has a small shop offering local, regional, and organic products. It mainly carries South Tyrolean farm products—from bacon to fruit and wine—but also carries a selection of sports gear. There’s also a herb garden that you’re welcome to use to add a culinary touch to your vacation. From Monday through Saturday, you can take advantage of the bread delivery service: oven-fresh bread from the village bakery delivered right to your door!
It’s the perfect place to unwind surrounded by nature. You can enjoy sports to your heart’s content or simply relax and enjoy doing nothing.
Towels and dish towels are changed twice a week. Upon request, your bed linens will be changed once a week.
If you’d like, you can use the weekly program that Julia offers:
All apartments have their own fully equipped kitchenette and sitting area. The kitchenette includes a filter coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster, and dishwasher (the lofts also have a microwave). Kitchen towels and dish soap are provided.
Twelve apartments accommodate 2–4 people, and two accommodate 2–6 people.
The apartments feature a pull-out double sofa bed, and bedding is provided for the bedroom. The bathrooms have a shower, toilet, and bidet. They also include towels, a makeup mirror, and a hair dryer. Additionally, there is satellite TV, a radio, free Wi-Fi, and a telephone with a direct outside line.
If you’re planning a trip to South Tyrol during the winter months, there are plenty of ways to relax. In addition to the wellness facilities at Paloria, the spa town of Merano is just 19 minutes away and hosts a Christmas market during the holiday season featuring local delicacies. There are beautiful winter hiking trails that you can explore (with snowshoes).
What’s more, there are no fewer than 6 ski resorts: the Schnalstal Glacier, the Vigiljoch, Pfelders in the Passeier Valley, Ratschings-Jaufen, and the Schwemmalm in the Ulten Valley. An absolute must-visit is Merano 2000, with 13 slopes and a rail toboggan run. From Paloria, you can be right on the slopes in just 20 minutes.
Renate, Julia’s mother, talks about the house’s long history: “Our house was built in the 12th century. At that time, the entire building belonged to the Oberplars Church, making it one of the oldest farmhouses in the village. In 1977, my husband took over the farm from his parents and converted it into a bed-and-breakfast. We ran it as a B&B until 2002, when we converted it into Residence Niedermair as vacation apartments. I ran the business from 1980 to 2016, and then it was time for a generational change. Now it’s Julia’s turn!”
