Costa Blanca

Salt, rock, and pink water. That’s the Costa Blanca at its most unexpected. If you drive past the well-known resorts and head inland, you’ll discover a landscape that has little to do with the hustle and bustle of the beach. Rolling hills, green valleys, and rugged mountain ranges dominate the hinterland; and along the coast, salt lakes create colors you’d expect to see on Mars. The lagoons of Torrevieja are pink due to the Dunaliella salina algae and are home to flamingos and dozens of other bird species. Further north looms the Montgó Nature Park, home to an imposing mountain over 750 meters high and a rich Mediterranean biodiversity featuring lush forests, fragrant wildflowers, and unique rock formations. The Costa Blanca thus has two sides: one for the summer months and one for when you want to look beyond.
