Stella del Rio Naro: an authentic stay in the heart of Sicily

Stella del Rio in Naro: Your Authentic Home in the Heart of Sicily

Sleep among ancient olive trees, taste wines from local wineries, and discover one of the least touristy yet most beautiful corners of Sicily—all from Agriturismo Stella del Rio in Naro. New as of June 2026 is a wonderfully refreshing swimming pool in the olive grove.

Where Sicily Is Still Truly Sicily

There are places in Sicily that every travel app knows about, and there are places you’ll only find if you go looking for them. Stella del Rio falls into the second category. Located in Contrada Fontana di Rose, in the beautiful Val Paradiso near Naro (province of Agrigento), this farmhouse lies in the unspoiled heart of the island, surrounded by carob, olive, and citrus trees that have set the tone here for centuries.

Naro itself is a Baroque town that most tourists skip on their way to Agrigento or the Scala dei Turchi. That’s their loss. The town is also known as“La Fulgentissima”(the radiant one), and when you walk through it, you’ll understand why: Baroque churches, an imposing Norman castle, hidden courtyards, and a laid-back, authentic atmosphere that you no longer find in Taormina or Cefalù.

The Accommodation: Three Styles, One Character

Stella del Rio offers three different accommodation options, each with its own character but all imbued with the same philosophy: comfort in harmony with nature.

The Sicilian country house is the beating heart of the complex. The rooms are spacious and bright, with air conditioning, free Wi-Fi, a fully equipped kitchen, and a private bathroom. The rooms overlook the garden, which is surrounded by olive and citrus trees.

The sustainable bungalows are built with the environment in mind and are perfect for couples, families, or groups. Each bungalow has two bedrooms, a private kitchen, a bathroom with a shower and bidet, and a veranda—the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee. Guests also have access to all shared facilities. One bungalow is fully accessible for guests with disabilities.

The agricamping is something truly special: eight spacious, fully equipped campsites for RVs and tents, nestled in the heart of Sicilian nature. Electricity, water, restrooms, showers, and laundry facilities are available. Energy is generated by solar panels, and waste separation is taken seriously. When you stay here, you’ll wake up every morning to the sound of birds and the scent of citrus blossoms.

There is a barbecue area and plenty of privacy and space to truly unwind. The new pool opens on June 15, 2026.

A stay that offers more than just a bed

What sets Stella del Rio apart is its carefully designed system of experiences that evolves as your stay progresses. The longer you stay, the more you discover.

If you book three nights, you’ll receive a delicious bottle of local wine.

If you book a four-night stay, you can choose from:

If you’re staying for five nights, you can choose from:

  • a guided tour of Naro
  • Cooking demonstration: “I ricci di mandorla della Fulgentissima”—learn how to make almond cookies

And on the seventh night, you can enjoy a stargazing evening at the Montedoro Astronomical Observatory—including a pizza tour—or visit a sheep farm where you can see the process from milk to cheese.

This is an invitation to delve deeper into the local culture: Sicily as a place of learning.

The Surroundings: A Rich Heritage Within Reach

Stella del Rio’s location is strategically sound. From Naro, you can easily reach the greatest cultural and natural treasures of southwestern Sicily:

  • Valley of the Temples (Agrigento), 25 km away: one of the best-preserved Greek temple complexes in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site
  • Scala dei Turchi, 35 km away: the iconic white limestone cliff by the sea, one of Italy’s most photogenic spots
  • Luigi Pirandello’s birthplace, 30 km away: the hometown of the Nobel Prize winner in Literature
  • Favara Farm Cultural Park, 16 km away: a surprising avant-garde art park in a formerly run-down historic center
  • Palma di Montechiaro, with its castle and Palazzo Ducale, 15 km away
  • Sulfur Mine Museum & Astronomical Observatory in Montedoro, 27 km away: a journey into the industrial past and the stars above
  • Roman Villa of Casale, 70 km away: home to Sicily’s most famous Roman mosaics

Naro itself is worth at least half a day: the Castello Chiaramontano, the Baroque churches, the San Calogero Sanctuary, and the historic city center are all well worth a visit.

Stella del Rio offers a downloadable guide that takes you on a tour of the area’s attractions, including culinary itineraries that take you to local wineries, olive mills, and cheese farms.

Sustainability as a Choice

Stella del Rio uses solar energy, practices responsible water and waste management, and built the bungalows using eco-friendly materials. If you want to contribute to responsible tourism, make a conscious choice to stay at places like this; and here, that feels genuine, not forced.

Who is Stella del Rio for?
