The Nest: literally your haven of peace in Central Portugal

This is truly a place to fall in love with. I ended up here during our city trip from Porto to Lisbon, but felt our stay was far too short. If you’re looking for true peace and quiet, you’ll find it here. We stayed at “The Nest,” a 200-meter walk from the Cooking and Nature hotel.

Minimalist architecture

Fantastic in-room breakfast service and a beautiful, minimalist design, built entirely of wood. Our bedroom overlooked the pool and the surrounding mountains. We enjoyed the peace and quiet on the balcony.

Cooking Classes and Pottery Workshops at The Nest

During your stay at the Nest, you can enjoy all the facilities at the Cooking and Nature Emotion hotel. In addition to cooking classes, you can also participate in pottery workshops led by José Siphioni (check Instagram).

Fine dining with natural ingredients

The Nest building is home to Terruja, a fine-dining restaurant that focuses on natural ingredients. The Nest also has its own swimming pool. Here, you’ll find yourself in the heart of the Serra d’Aire and Candeeiros. The rooms feature a minimalist design and are made entirely of wood. You’ll enjoy fantastic views of the surrounding olive groves.

The Nest: Natural Environment

The sleepy little village of Alvados has a friendly atmosphere and features a single restaurant. Here, you’re right in the heart of Portugal, with countless options for hiking, biking, or horseback riding trips. We enjoyed a fantastic e-bike trip using GPX routes. It was late February, and the weather was perfect for biking. In the spring, you’ll find 35 species of orchids here.

Sensory Walk & Nature Bath

Upon request, you can take a meditative nature walk at the Nest. Whether alone, as a couple, or in a group, you’ll enjoy mindfulness in a natural setting. This meditative walk in Alvados combines mindfulness, yoga, and a tea ritual featuring traditional herbs from the Serra d’Aire e Candeeiros. Connect with nature to reduce stress and meditate. The five senses are combined with the four elements of nature: conscious breathing, freedom of movement, and guided meditation. Advance reservations are required, and there is a fee. Subject to availability.
