In the Valle dei Laghi, the valley between Trento and Lake Garda, a small-scale agriturismo is nestled among organic apple orchards. La Dolce Mela (the sweet apple) combines design and tranquility with true sustainability: from the wood and the large windows to the heating system, everything has been designed with respect for the environment.
The atmosphere is adults-only: tranquility and privacy are the top priorities. It’s ideal if you want to unwind without the hustle and bustle of children. La Dolce Mela calls itself an“adult-friendly retreat.”
Sleeping: Wood, Light, and Views
The 11 rooms and suites feature a warm, natural look (lots of wood, soft lighting) and no TV. This is a deliberate choice designed to help you truly unwind and bring nature indoors. Some rooms feature both a jacuzzi and a sauna, perfect for relaxing after a day spent in nature.
Good to know
Start your day with whole-grain bread, homemade cakes, organic eggs, jam, and homemade apple juice. There are plenty of savory options as well (local ham and mountain cheeses). Much of it comes directly from the valley or from organic producers.
No traditional chlorine—instead, an electrolysis system that converts the rock salt from the WWF Oasis into natural chlorine. This keeps the water crystal clear, prevents algae growth, and ensures a hygienic swimming experience right in the middle of your garden.
Think mountain lake vibes, with crickets and birdsong in the background. The pool is usually open from May through September (from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.). You must shower before taking a dip to keep the ecosystem clean.
La Dolce Mela is located in Ciago (Vallelaghi), 12 km from Trento, within biking distance of lakes such as Toblino and Terlago. Although the agriturismo is accessible by public transportation (train to Trento and then a local bus; information available and free travel with the Guest Card), given its rural location, it’s always recommended to come by car. There are a few restaurants in the immediate vicinity (1–3 kilometers).
You can enjoy a good book by the organic pool and take in the golden hour at Castel Toblino. But if you decide to head out, there’s plenty to do. Here’s a great day trip idea: go e-biking along the Valle dei Laghi route, have lunch at a winery (Nosiola), and when you get back, take a dip in the pool or enjoy a relaxing massage.
1) Cycling through the Valle dei Laghi
The valley has a beautiful bike route that runs along the Lake Garda with Toblino, among other places. Landscape: vineyards, villages, glacial valleys. Rent an (e-)bike on site and ride toward Arco and Riva.
2) Castles & Lakes
Plan a relaxing day around Lake Toblino with its picturesque castle, or choose the peaceful shores of Lake Terlago for a picnic. (The Path of Nosiola—a wine trail consisting of four loops—connects Toblino and Cavedine, among other places: perfect for an e-bike ride.)
3) Hiking with a view
The Monte Sorasass tour passes by World War I ruins and offers views of Trento and the Dolomite peaks.
La Dolce Mela is open year-round and is a wonderful place to visit in every season: in the fall, with its warm colors and relaxation in the sauna and hot tub, and in the winter, with Christmas markets offering a magical atmosphere in the nearby villages.
La Dolce Mela shows that comfort and nature go hand in hand: small-scale, quiet, truly local, and demonstrably sustainable—including independent GSTC certification. This makes your stay not only enjoyable but also future-proof for the valley. If you book your stay through Nature Travel Lab, you’ll receive an additional 5% discount off the price listed on La Dolce Mela’s website. The discount code is NATURETRAVELLAB5.
