You wake up to a view of gently rolling hills, the scent of pine and olive trees in the air, and a rooster crowing somewhere in the distance. You step outside with a cup of espresso in your hand, gaze out over vineyards and a large, bright-blue swimming pool, and realize: this is exactly why you wanted to come to Italy.
Welcome to Agriturismo Sant’Angelo in Acquapendente, an organic agriturismo on the border of Lazio and Tuscany and Umbria. A peaceful, small-scale retreat where you can choose what to do each day: explore nature, discover charming towns, or simply relax by the pool with a book.
The farm is located in the green heart of Tuscia (north of Lazio), in a stone house with tuff details, surrounded by gardens and a pine forest. It feels secluded and peaceful, yet you’re also just a short drive away from famous Tuscan and Umbrian towns.
From Sant’Angelo, you can be in the heart of Tuscia—a still relatively undiscovered region in Lazio—in just a few minutes.
Nearby, you’ll find, among other things:
You’re literally right on the border with Tuscany. It’s the perfect spot for a trip to Monte Amiata (about a 20-minute drive), the Val d’Orcia (half an hour), Siena, and Montepulciano (about an hour), as well as for beautiful wine routes, medieval towns, and scenic drives through the Tuscan hills.
In Umbria, cultural highlights are within easy reach:
Fancy a day trip to the city? Rome is about a 90-minute drive away. It’s perfect for a day trip: leave early in the morning and be back in the evening to enjoy the peace and quiet of the farm with its pool.
Agriturismo Sant’Angelo has 4 apartments in the main building. Two of them can be combined to form one large vacation home. You can also rent the entire agriturismo, which is ideal for a vacation with family or friends.
Perfect for a couple or a small family who like to be a little higher up with a view of the garden.
This apartment is ideal if you want to stay on the ground floor or if you’re traveling with a stroller or wheelchair.
The Viola and Iris apartments are connected by an interior door.
Together, they form:
All apartments have a private outdoor area in the garden with a table and chairs, window screens, and Wi-Fi.
You can also rent Agriturismo Sant’Angelo exclusively. It’s perfect if you’re traveling with two or three families or want to celebrate a special occasion in peace and quiet.
The large garden features a spacious 23 x 8-meter swimming pool, complete with lounge chairs (reserved for each apartment), tables and chairs, umbrellas, and shaded areas. Here, you can enjoy a refreshing dip after a walk or a day trip, while taking in the view of the lush surroundings.
Surrounding the farm, you’ll find an organic vegetable garden, olive groves, an orchard with fruit trees, and the farm’s own vineyards. Depending on the season, you can sample what the land has to offer: tomatoes, fruit, olive oil, and, of course, wine.
The concierge service is available 24/7. The owner, Elisabetta, will be happy to help you with tips for day trips, making restaurant reservations, and booking activities in the area.
In the Monte Rufeno Nature Reserve, you can go on beautiful hikes, mountain bike, ride a bike, and take horseback riding lessons or go on trail rides. We also highly recommend the Bosco Incantato del Sasseto: an enchanting forest with unique trees and moss-covered rocks.
Would you like to spend a relaxing day? We can book a visit to Fonteverde Spa in San Casciano dei Bagni for you. Thermal baths and wellness treatments with a view of the Tuscan hills.
From Sant’Angelo, you can take a boat trip to the islands of Martana and Bisentina on Lake Bolsena. Go swimming, stand-up paddleboarding, or just relax on the shores of the lake.
Are you a wine lover? Then you’ve come to the right place. Take part in a wine tasting at Agriturismo Sant’Angelo itself or at one of the many wineries in the area, featuring local wines from Lazio, Tuscany, and Umbria.
Agriturismo Sant’Angelo is not just another vacation spot; it is a thriving, working organic farm with a clear vision. Wine and extra virgin olive oil are produced on more than 60 hectares of organically farmed land.
The family consciously works in harmony with the seasons, respecting nature and the land. They farm out of love, not out of necessity. And you can tell in everything they do: from the care they give the animals to the products you taste. Countless wild animals live around the farm, such as foxes, hares, goshawks, kestrels, and owls. You’ll also come across pheasants and porcupines. Occasionally, a deer will pass by in the morning.
